Rare Diseases: Any disease, disorder, illness or condition affecting fewer than 200,000 people in the United States is considered rare by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and NORD.

There are currently approximately 7,000 rare diseases listed by the NIH.
Call for abstracts
Abstracts are accepted in the following categories:
- Scientific – preclinical: bench, laboratory studies, mechanistic studies
- Scientific – clinical/translational: natural history studies, clinical trials, case reports
- Clinical services & multi-disciplinary clinic: descriptions of clinical and laboratory services relevant to the care of patients with rare and undiagnosed diseases
- Patient advocacy partnerships: descriptions of collaborations between clinicians and scientists and advocacy organizations for rare and undiagnosed diseases
- Education & training in specialty care: can include programs, initiatives and curricula that are relevant to rare diseases
